Joint venture launched as a unique breeding initiative geared towards grass-based farm systems
The international herd improvement organisations NCBC and CRV have launched a joint venture to help customers who run grass-based farming systems. The name of the joint venture is Grassland Alliance and it will be the largest and most specialised player in the world specifically for the grazing market.
The co-operation covers a broad area and is unique in the international market of herd improvement. Joint work between the NCBC and CRV will include their breeding programmes, research and development, and marketing and sales. For both parties this means that they will have access to a wider gene pool to strengthen their product portfolio for the grazing market.

Fertility and efficient production
The Grassland Alliance aims to help farmers who manage their herds on grazing systems. New Zealand, Ireland, South Africa and South America are among the important areas in which this farming system is frequently seen. Fertility and efficient production, based on low-input rations, are universal points of importance for farmers who run their cows on a grass-based system.
The co-operation within the Grassland Alliance enables NCBC and CRV to select and sell the bulls whose genetics best suit the local grazing conditions in different countries.
Start of the Grassland Alliance
The agreement that launched the Grassland Alliance was signed on Friday February 19 in Enfield (Ireland). Both parties underlined the importance of international co-operation in order to further develop solutions for professional dairy farmers running grass-based farm systems.
